Aurora AuPairs

Information for Au Pairs

If you are from Scandinavia and interested in becoming an Au Pair in the UK, Aurora Au Pairs is the Agency for you.  We understand that deciding to move abroad can be overwhelming.  This is why we will be there to support you throughout the duration of your stay as well as organising social gatherings and events for Au Pairs like you.

We are an Agency that genuinely cares about making the relationship between the host family and the Au Pair work and we will do all we can to make it successful and enjoyable for everybody involved.

Becoming an Au Pair is a fantastic way to get to know another culture intimately, learn another language and meet new friends.

What does it involve?

The Au Pair programme is a cultural Exchange programme, you are not considered an employee.  You will be welcomed as a part of the family.

You will be expected to work 25-35 hours a week over 5 days.  You might also be asked to babysit in the evenings but usually not more than 2 nights a week.  Additional pocket money will usually be paid for any additional evenings.

You will be paid a minimum of £65 per week for 25 hours and a minimum of £80 per week for 30 hours.  You will be entitled a minimum of two weeks paid holiday over the year (if you are a short stay au pair holidays will be pro-rata).

You will receive full room and board and you will have your own private room, with facilities to study.

You will be allowed sufficient time to attend English classes and to socialise with other au pairs and friends.

You will be expected to do light housework, don't worry you are not a hired servant and will not be expected to do gardening or washing of cars.  It's more light housework related to the children's needs.

You will be expected to pay for your own travel to the UK but you will not have to apply for any additional health insurance as and Au Pair and part of the Au Pair cultural programme you are entitled to use the National Health Service which is free.

We will make sure that all families are checked and visited before we recommend them as an Aurora Au Pair host family.

We will make sure to be there for you and support you in case of any problems or misunderstandings will arise.  Our goal is for the relationship between the Au Pair and the host family to be successful and enjoyable.

You will be expected to be responsible, reliable, organised and self-confident.  This is not a holiday and you are here to engage with the families and to be a part of their life.
